Since 1992 hundreds of supporters have generously donated to Flagler Habitat for Humanity. Habitat relies on its donors, volunteers, and homebuyers joining together to provide the financial and human resources needed to build affordable homes for qualified, low-income families. Through the faithful support of our partners, Flagler Habitat has built 64 houses in Flagler County.

Join us as we:

Material Donations
It takes a lot to build a house. Everything from lumber and trusses, OSB board, hurricane clips, insulation, sheetrock, doors, windows, siding, sod, etc. must be purchased. There is also need for the lot to be cleared, electrical fixtures and installation, plumbing fixtures and installation, roofing, concrete, and more. Flagler Habitat for Humanity is blessed by partnerships with a few local businesses which provide services and/or materials for no charge or at a reduced cost. Additionally, there are national partnerships between a few manufacturers of building materials and Habitat for Humanity International which we are able to take advantage of. Together, these partnerships have a significant impact on the final cost of the houses we build, and therefore, the selling price of the homes to our partner families is less than it would be otherwise.

However, as land prices have skyrocketed and shortages of materials occur, there is always a need to keep searching for more partnerships. Perhaps your business can provide some of the building material which is required for the construction of a house, or perhaps it could make a donation toward the expense. A sponsorship of a truss package or flooring would be great. The cost of windows for one home per year is another example. Any and all donations are appreciated and tax deductible. All materials and items which go into the houses we build must be new. For donations, please call 586-6180.

Used building materials can be donated to our thrift store and sold at a reduced cost to customers seeking to repair or upgrade their own homes. For information or to schedule a pick up, please call (386) 586-6180.

Volunteer Work

This is truly an organization which would not exist but for the numerous dedicated individuals who give of their time, their talents, and their hearts. Volunteers are needed at Flagler Habitat to do many, many things.

We are always in need of people to help us build houses on the job site. Anyone 16 or older can help whenever we are working, and those 14 or 15 can help when there are no power tools being used on site. Construction typically takes place year round on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon, and again on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. till done with the project of the day. This would typically be anywhere from noon till 4:00 p.m. When we have visiting groups of volunteers from outside the area, we may work 8:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.., 5 or 6 days a week. Please see Current Happenings on this website or call for an updated schedule.

Volunteers also assist in raising funds, locating available land, training partner families, taking photographs, writing newsletters and newspaper articles, serving on committees, making lunches, working in the thrift store and the office, helping on the truck with pick ups, providing lunches, and more.

RV Care-A-Vanners, one of the groups of individuals who travel to Habitat affiliates to build houses, have a favorite saying, "Habitat is not a hand out, but a hand up." Many, many hands are helping others up around here, and I hope you will consider lending us your hands as well.

For additional information or to sign up, please complete the volunteer application and mail or e-mail it to us, or call (386) 586-6180.
