Community Service Volunteer

There are two kinds of community service volunteers: students and court-ordered.

Students may be asked to complete community work service hours for school or another educational program. Habitat's youth policies and procedures apply.  You must fill out the Information & Skills Form as well as print and sign the Minor Waiver of Liability. Transportation to or from any volunteer work site is not provided.  All parents/guardians must check with a volunteer site supervisor before leaving a minor at a site.  Wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or paint splattered, and closed-toe shoes (work boots or tennis shoes). Sandals are not allowed.  In order to complete your hours you must plan your time well in advance. Habitat assumes no responsibility for providing work for you to do on the dates and times you want to do it.

You must have a referral or paperwork from the court system that you have been charged.

** For court ordered or recommended community service we reserve the right to decline having you participate based on the specific charges··

Before you begin, contact our office at (386) 586-6180 to schedule a meeting time to register for our program. Please bring court paperwork and your ID to the meeting.

We do not provide transportation to or from the volunteer work sites.  Habitat assumes no responsibility for providing your work hours.  Please be prepared for the possibility that we may not need your services on the days and times you would like to do them.  It is highly recommended that you plan to start your hours well in advance of the court deadline.

When you arrive, identify yourself to the Habitat representative as someone performing community service. Have the Habitat representative at the site sign the form each time you work.  In addition make sure that you sign in and out on the sign in sheet provided at the work site.  Each week, return the time sheet to the Habitat office. It is Your responsibility to ensure that your hours are recorded and return your sheets.  Wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or paint splattered, and closed-toe shoes (work boots or tennis shoes). Sandals are not allowed.  Hours are accumulated for time served and so hours are deducted for lunch breaks.
